Who We Are:
Axeiom is a majority woman-owned axe throwing entertainment company, with a socially driven mission. In 2022, we got to know the Flemington community in a summer long pop-up right in the heart of town — kicking off the summer with packed lanes at Lone Eagle Brewery’s 5th Anniversary celebration and ending with a bang at Flemington’s Harvest Fest. Everyone who threw with us had a kick-axe time (see what we did there?) and only had one question when they were done: When would we finally be able to open our permanent home?
Well, we’ve finally got the space, now all we need is your help!
Why We Need Support:
Due to delays with permits, demolition complications, and supply chain issues, our facility construction is behind schedule and has fallen short of funds to finish. We are within just a few weeks of either succeeding in bringing this facility to market or falling flat. Please help us to make it across the finish line!
We are seeking $200,000 to help complete the construction of our 8500 sqft., centrally-located facility in the Shoppes at Flemington. Our plans include 22 full throwing lanes, a private room with 7 additional lanes for private events, a cozy children's play area, and a welcoming atmosphere fit for every guest.
With your help, we’ll be able to bring a fresh, premium axe throwing experience to a town quickly on the rise!
A Bit About Us...
If you are familiar with Stumpy's Hatchet House or Bury The Hatchet, you’re probably thinking of an axe wielding, flannel-wearing lumberjack. But at Axeiom, we take an egalitarian, socially-conscious approach that sets us apart not only from other axe companies, but other businesses too:
- We are majority women-owned and operated! Owner Carly Johnstone is a registered RN and hatchet throwing queen! Her goal is to foster community in the Flemington area, and hopes Axeiom will be a force of good — the perfect mix of fun, comfort, and empowerment!
- Axeiom is focused on bringing the sport of axe throwing to more women, girls, and the queer community ... and anyone that just doesn’t vibe with the dimly lit or sports bar environments offered by other brands.
- This means an airy, bright space filled with plants and joy, perfect to host every kind of event! As a happy side effect, this kind of environment is also great for corporate team building events!
- We are committed to an equal pay model which eliminates the wage gap between the company leadership and the average employee. We are all in this business together and we will all succeed together. Everyone will receive an hourly living wage and share in the profits at the end of the year.
- 10% of all profits will be set aside for charitable giving in our community. Whether this is by donating to the local groups in need or by helping out small businesses that need a hand, we will always try to make a positive impact where we are operating. That translates to roughly $200,000 every year going to the community!
Your contribution will enable us to complete construction and remain solvent through the first few months of business.

Frequently Asked Questions:
- Is AXEIOM a non-profit?
- No. AXEIOM is a profit corporation formed by the founders in 2021. The business will operate as a for-profit company with our profits directed by the board to fulfill our mission. We hope to be organized at some point as a "B Corporation" so that we can fully enshrine our egalitarian mission into the corporate structure to prevent future leadership from abandoning the founding principles.
- What makes AXEIOM different?
- We have gone to great lengths to make sure we are providing an environment that everyone can feel welcome in. That means a lot of extra costs, more attention to things like a nursing area and unisex bathroom facilities (We have lost an entire real estate deal over that point!), plants, and natural light. We coach our clients until everyone is comfortable throwing and feeling empowered!
- Our employees make a living wage! Ever wonder how a coffee shop employee making minimum wage can afford to live in the town where they work? They can't. We did the math for our area and made sure that everyone will be able to thrive working for us. There is no point having a company with social goals if you are participating in the oppression of your own staff!
- We're all in the same boat together. Everyone, from the founders to the coaches will make an hourly wage and there will be no secrets. Everyone will participate in the company profit sharing. No more giant wage gaps between the management and the front of the house! No more "your salary is confidential and you shouldn't talk about it with your co-workers".
- Is AXEIOM Hiring?
- We will be! ... Once the doors are open, we will scale up to a full 21 day/month availability and that isn't even counting the corporate events! We will need to expand our staff from the current 4 up to at least 7 or possibly 10 before the end of the year. This tier gets you a two-hour private throwing event in our party room, for up to 35 people! This represents a 10% discount over our normal private room rate. The private room has 7 full throwing lanes and separate bathroom facilities.
Time and date of reservation to be coordinated once the open date of the facility is determined.
Reserve the entire facility for up to 130 people for two hours! This represents a 15-20% discount over our normal private buyout rates. The full facility has 22 full throwing lanes, a separate children's area for when the kids get bored, comfortable seating, and a staff of professional coaches ready to help your party have a great time!
That's one heck of a private event!
Date and time of the event to be coordinated after the open date of the facility is determined.
