Heaven on Earth: A Solace for Single Mothers

MISSION

Heaven on Earth Ministries Inc. strives to address homelessness and poverty amongst single mothers and their children by providing shelter, financial education, and emotional support. We will establish meaningful partnerships within the community to facilitate programs and provide resources to underprivileged families. We will develop our community by providing essential resources to those in need.

PROBLEM

The domestic violence rates in Waterbury, Connecticut, are skyrocketing while literacy is decreasing. Mothers must decide whether they should stay in an abusive relationship which can result in mental illness, drug dependency, murder, or suicide. Such a living situation is not only toxic for the mother; it is also unhealthy for children to witness. It is a tough decision that can bring with it feelings of shame, guilt, anxiety, and depression. Despite this weight, leaving is the only sane option. The mothers are left to raise children independently while trying to cope with the effects of sexual, mental, and emotional abuse. This can easily snowball into a generational cycle, with children learning from their parents’ patterns. Such a cycle must be broken if there is any hope for our future.

SOLUTION

The single mother needs a place of hope and love in her world of pain and affliction. Heaven on Earth will be a transitional shelter for single mothers recovering from sexual, mental, and emotional abuse. This sorority-style home will provide emotional and mental support groups where the mother and child will be fed physically and spiritually. This will be a place where mothers can foster genuine friendships and community. We will equip, educate, and empower mothers and their children. The goal is to restore them to mental, emotional, spiritual, and financial stability.

SERVICES OFFERED

Transitional Housing Heaven on Earth will provide housing for single mothers and their children until the mothers are self-sufficient and ready to support themselves and their children.

Enrichment Classes Through enrichment classes and support, Heaven on Earth will transform and restore the community one SOUL at a time! We are committed to empowering children and their mothers to realize their potential and gifts by taking them on a journey of personal growth and development. Resources will be provided to ensure mothers and their children are also healing from their traumas.

Mentorship and Support groups We are raising the next generation. It all starts at home. We must take care of the caretaker so they can better raise the next generation. Mentorship will be provided for each mother, and there will be opportunities for the mothers to empathize with each other in support groups.

Faith-based School Children living in transitional housing will have access to a thriving faith-based learning experience called Child-Like Faith Academy. They will experience God’s love while gaining educational confidence here. The school will be a safe and nurturing environment with caring, quality teachers, providing academic excellence and encouraging moral excellence. The school agenda will include prayer, worship, art, and therapeutic activities.

Everyone is welcome, no matter their race, beliefs, or language. It will be a haven where all spiritual emotions and needs will be met.

USE OF FUNDS

We are raising funds to purchase two buildings. One building will be for housing families, and the second building will be for the school. We will also hire staff to manage the building and coordinate the resources and community partnerships.

ABOUT YALITZA

Yalitza Senquiz is a faith-filled entrepreneur who specializes in financial restoration and literacy. As a young parent of three, she encountered many trials in her life. Yalitza shares her experience, strength, and hope in her book HOE: Heaven on Earth. She is committed to restoring her life by giving it all to God. She now focuses on building and equipping others by giving them the blueprint they need to leave a legacy. Her passion is to help single mothers, and their children reach a healthy peak in all areas of their lives. She believes that stability is possible for single mothers when equipped with the necessary knowledge and an empowering and encouraging environment. 

After releasing her testimonial book, Yalitza was evicted from her home in March 2022. She and her family have been without a home since then. During this year of homelessness, Heaven on Earth Ministries hosted community outreach events highlighted in the photos below.
