• What is the mission of your company or project?
  • To provide pet grooming and coat care to rural southern Minnesota. 
• Describe the problem you are solving.
  • Dog grooming services in the radius of Harmony, MN are lacking. Current offerings are located 20 or more miles away. Pet coat care is essential for pet's wellbeing. Matted fur, fleas, dirt, and other skin ailments can create life long issues for pets. Rural areas tend to lean elderly and offering services in a convenient location will assist owners in caring for their pets.
• What is the market size/opportunity?
  • With services being located some distance from the location I have selected, I have seized upon the market opportunity to build business in an area with limited pet care resources. The nearest pet retail is located in either Decorah, IA which is approximately 25 miles from Harmony, MN or in Rochester, MN which is 45 minutes north. By opening a pet grooming salon and retail location, I can assist pet owners in a wide radius where they may not have access. 
• What is your company/product about and how does it solve the problem? 
  • I have been a dog groomer since 2007 and moved to Minnesota in 2016. I have decided to pursue my dream of opening a pet boutique and grooming salon and moved to an area where these services are lacking. I plan to offer dog and cat grooming, retail items such as toys, beds, treats, and leashes as well as offering assistance to local animal rescues through my shop. 
• Why are you seeking funding and how will you spend the funding?
  • I have started building the inventory needed and have located a retail front in Harmony, MN. I am seeking funding for the final leg of my journey with plans to open for operation by August 1, 2024. 
    • Current needs are:
      • Retail Space:  I have located a retail store front in Harmony, MN with average rent cost of $500. With the addition of utilities such as water and power, my average monthly cost for operations for just rent and utilities will run close to $750. I am seeking at least $4500 to have 6 months of operating expenses going into opening date. 
      • Product offerings: As a retail location for pet supplies, I plan to build out the front of my location to offer pet toys, treats, leashes, etc to clients as well as the local area population. I plan to stock a variety of cat and dog items including food. Setting up this retail section will involve product as well as display structures. I plan to start small and expand with the retail portion of my operation. Estimated cost to build/purchase retail displays as well as inventory is at $2000.
      • Grooming Salon: I have started building up overhead supplies for the grooming side. I anticipate needing about $1500 to finish out the supplies needed which includes tub, shampoos/conditioners, shears, and blades. 
      • Establishing LLC in the State of Minnesota/Insurance:  I plan to use a portion raised to cover the LLC start up costs which run about $300 for the State of Minnesota as well as business insurance. This estimate is at about $600.
• Who is on your team?
  • I am a sole proprietor with support from friends and family.  I have a background in dog grooming and pet care. I have managed dog boarding and grooming salons in the past with familiarity on management and marketing. I also have a bachelors in Business Management.
